Certi-Label Shingles Company Overview:

The Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau was formed in Washington in 1915 and merged with the Handsplit Shake Bureau in 1963 to ensure quality standards of shakes and wooden shingles.

The CSSB allows manufacturers to use a Certi-Label designation. Members of the CSSB produce quality shingles that meet specified uniform standards and label their products with various Certi-label trademark designations.

Designations for shakes include Certi-Split Handsplit , Certi-Sawn TapersSawn, Certi-Split Tapersplit, and Certi-Split Straight-split. Designations for shingles include Certigrade Number1 Blue Label, Number 2 Red Label, and economy grades.

Cedar shakes and shingles are a high-performance roofing option. Durability varies with weather, treatment and maintenance. High wind resistance is offered at up to 245mph for Certi-Split shakes and 175mph for Certigrade shingles. Various fire ratings (A, B, C) are available if Certi-Guard fire retardant is applied to the product, and a longer life is offered with Certi-Last preservative treatment. Products are tested to Class 3 or 4 for impact resistance.

Few roofing products equal the beauty and natural appearance of wooden shingles and shakes. Treated shingles will maintain original colour longer. Cedar ages naturally to an attractive silver-gray.
